What is ATP?
The Academically Talented Program at Carlisle Schools
is a collection of services provided to students who
have been identified as gifted in the area of superior cognitive or
the specific academic areas of reading, language,
math, social studies, or science. Service varies by grade level
and area of identification.
How are students selected for gifted services in Carlisle?
Students can be referred by parents, teachers, or
district testing information. Parents are then contacted for
permission to conduct further testing using the state of Ohio's approved
tests adopted by our local district.
Students are tested and parents are informed of the testing results.
If the student meets state requirements, a
written gifted service plan will be devised. For more information
on the characteristics of children who are gifted
access Who Are
the Gifted.
How can I find more about gifted education in the state
of Ohio?
Try the Ohio Association
for Gifted Children or The National Association
of Gifted Children web sites for more
information on gifted children and related issues.
What do gifted service options provide for Carlisle students?
Students participating in gifted service options
are presented with a variety of educational opportunities. The
goal of the service options is to provide a wide range of high level
thinking activities that encourage students to
increase their ability to solve problems, discover individual interests,
pursue in-depth study, and set goals for the
future.
